Andrew Staley
Managing Director
Andrew has been active in the energy industry for the past 15 years, and has brought to TheEnergyBrokers his wealth of experience in contracting and consultancy, as well as in client roles covering engineering, construction, maintenance projects, management and purchasing.
A significant part of Andrew's experience was gained during his 10 years working with Hilton International, and as Director of Property and Utilities, where he pioneered successful energy procurement strategies and risk management techniques. Andrew also implemented Hilton's environmental policies, established their Energy Management System in the UK, and led the way to instil a cultural awareness of energy saving techniques within the hotels.
Andrew has been an integral part of the Hospitality Energy Consortium (HEC) for many years, which has achieved the procurement of energy at consistent rates during volatile periods. He has also been promoted by The Carbon Trust, and as a result has been featured in national newspaper articles for his valued advice on energy management.
Bernard Messore
Research & Development Director
Combining a wealth of business experience with outstanding technical knowledge, Bernard founded
TheEnergyBrokers in 1994, and since then has produced some truly innovative energy procurement
solutions for forward-thinking industry leaders.
Bernard has been a leader in the energy industry for over 30 years, and is well-known and highly
respected within the consultancy sector. Bernard is particularly renowned for being passionate
about operating in an ethical and transparent way within the energy industry.
As a director, he continues to have a hands-on approach within TheEnergyBrokers, leading Research
and Development as well as the data and software areas of the business.
Simon Tait
Head of Sales & Marketing
Prior to joining TheEnergyBrokers, Simon held a number of other senior roles within HSBC,
Western Provident Association (WPA) and the Woolwich.
Widespread sales and marketing experience in complex and fast moving UK and European organisations. Simon has demonstrable track record of driving sustained top line growth leading teams from strategy development through to operational delivery.
A ability to target key decision makers and influencers in order to combine strategic concepts and solutions into deliverable returns, a result of many years of frontline experience in meeting with energy purchasing professionals.
Combining an extensive knowledge of a variety of energy procurement issues and concerns, which allows quickly to understand clients’ needs and address them into viable working solutions.
Excellent presentational skills, able to articulate technology, products, commercial solutions and business advantages to the target audiences within complex value chains.
As Head of Sales and Marketing, and as part of the senior management team at TheEnergyBrokers,
Simon continues to identify and develop opportunities within the business as well as managing the
Sales and Marketing team.
Andy Hutchinson
Head of Client Management
As Head of Client Management, Andy has worked with TheEnergyBrokers for over 13 years, and due
to his strong customer focus and passion for providing clients with excellent service, has been
instrumental in the growth, development and continued success of the business.
As part of the senior management team, Andy is responsible for all account managers and account
support staff, who manage an overall energy portfolio of over 8 TWh, consisting of approximately
800 clients and 20,000 sites.
From having worked within all functions of TheEnergyBrokers, Andy’s depth of skill and
knowledge in energy procurement, portfolio and risk management enables him to understand
fundamental client needs and achieve the best possible outcomes by applying the most effective
solutions.
Working closely with the Head of Operations, Andy also oversees the management of clients who
are affected by the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC-EES).
Lydia Pymm
Head of Operations
Lydia has over 11 years experience within the energy industry; in addition to valuable time
spent with the supplier arm of Yorkshire Electricity, she has been working with TheEnergyBrokers
for over 9 years. Previously, Lydia has successfully led and developed the Negotiations, Customer
Services and Administration departments within TheEnergyBrokers.
As Head of Operations, and as part of the senior management team, Lydia is responsible for
implementing and overseeing company operations, and is highly focused on producing the best
possible outcomes for our clients, by ensuring all supplier negotiations are run smoothly and
efficiently.
Lydia's knowledge and experience also allows her to play a significant role in helping clients
who are affected by the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC-EES).
Claire Tait
Head of Managed Services
After several years working for Debenhams, establishing and managing an extremely successful £4m
pa retail purchasing department, Claire joined TheEnergyBrokers over 8 years ago.
Initially involved with researching the newly liberalised European energy markets, Claire went on
to manage the Market Intelligence team at TheEnergyBrokers, as well as to implement their European
market monitoring and procurement service. Claire's procurement background and analytical skill set
have been instrumental to the development and management of TheEnergyBrokers' unique flexible
product range.
As Head of Managed Services, and as part of the senior management team, Claire oversees a variety
of functions within TheEnergyBrokers, including Procurement, Market Analytics, Telecoms and Water.
Claire is focused on the planning and execution of energy strategy, providing clients with the services
and intelligence necessary to defend against constantly changing and volatile markets.
Alison Whiteman
Client Management Team Leader
As a Client Management Team Leader, Alison has over 14 years experience in the industry. During
her time at TheEnergyBrokers, she has taken on key leadership roles within the areas of contract
negotiations, data collection and bill validation.
With exceptional operational strengths, Alison is responsible for a team of account managers,
overseeing execution of fixed-price gas and power contracts as well as management of client
and supplier relationships.
Her specialist knowledge and experience in the areas of contract negotiations, reporting, risk
management, forecasting and purchasing advice ensures that TheEnergyBrokers' clients are in the
best possible hands.
Alex Michaluk
Client Management Team Leader
Alex has worked within the energy industry since 1999, initially by spending 4 years working for
EON in a technical support role. Following employment as a relocation agent dealing with utility
contracts for Server Relocation, and after a brief time at Severn Trent Water, Alex joined
TheEnergyBrokers team as support to a key account manager.
Following 2 years as a client support, Alex progressed to the role of Account Manager in 2006, and
has now been with TheEnergyBrokers for 6 years. He currently manages a portfolio of 75 clients,
including several key accounts – and is highly experienced in flexible purchasing, as well as with
setting strategies to reduce costs for his clients.
Due to his high level of customer retention and client satisfaction, Alex received the commendation
of being named TheEnergyBrokers 'Employee of the Year'.
Luke Booth
Client Management Team Leader
After graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Management and Marketing, Luke joined TheEnergyBrokers
in 2002 – initially as a negotiator for half-hourly electricity supply contract negotiation. After
assisting with the main contract round for that year, Luke then moved into the Account Management team
as an Account Support. Following two years in this role, learning the markets and industry processes, Luke
became an Account Manager responsible for a small portfolio of clients in 2004.
During the last 6 years Luke's portfolio has rapidly grown to encompass some of TheEnergyBrokers' major clients.
During this time, he has been responsible for managing all areas of client requirements, from agreeing
fixed and flexible contract purchasing strategies through to assisting with billing and contract
queries.
In 2010 Luke was promoted to his current role of Client Management Team Leader.
Martin Tiney
Client Management Team Leader
Martin has 40 years of industry knowledge, with 16 years in account management, and has
qualifications in Building Engineering Services and Key Account Management.
Starting his working career with East Midlands Electricity, Martin held a number of senior roles
within distribution, before then moving over to the supply side of the business as an account manager,
and also staying on after the company's merger with Powergen.
In 1999, Martin joined TheEnergyBrokers as an account manager and over the last 4 years has
headed up a team of account managers and supports.
Martin's knowledge and experience is a valuable asset to the company and our clients.
Stephen Atkins
Senior Risk Manager
Steve graduated from The University of Leicester in 1997 with a degree in German. Following employment
in the engineering team with Transco, and in the service contract department of Otis Lifts, Steve joined
TheEnergyBrokers in 2003, specifically to assist with the expansion of the company into the newly
liberalised European utility markets.
Steve soon progressed with the company to manage some of TheEnergyBrokers' key customers both in
the UK and in Europe.
In his current role, Steve now leads a team of Account Managers and Operations Managers whose role
is to maintain close working relationships with clients and suppliers throughout Europe, providing bespoke
procurement strategies to control costs across their client portfolios.
Steve's team is responsible for the management of an energy spend of over £50 million per annum.
